Customer Stories

Ecobio has supported Lival for nearly two decades, with intensified collaboration beginning in 2020 following the first carbon footprint calculation.

Lival and Ecobio’s partnership is centred around carbon footprint calculation. Alongside yearly carbon footprint calculations, Ecobio has conducted various one-off projects and assessments, including product life cycle assessments (LCA), evaluations and calculations related to low-carbon solutions, sustainability expert statements to support customer communications and contributions to the company’s Code of Conduct development. In addition, Ecobio has annually aided Lival in customer-facing reporting on emissions and sustainability topics.

Ecobio supported Yousician in carrying out a CSRD-compliant Double Materiality Assessment (DMA) as part of the company’s sustainability efforts.

Yousician is a Finnish-born technology company whose applications make learning music easier and more accessible for everyone. The starting point for Yousician’s sustainability work and double materiality assessment was quite different compared to companies that manufacture physical products.

Ecobio helps Ponsse meet the requirements of chemical legislation and safety regulations. Ponsse, a publicly listed Finnish company, is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of forest machines. The company began collaborating with Ecobio in spring 2023, when tightening chemical regulations created a need for expert support. Today, the partnership between Ecobio and Ponsse has deepened and evolved into a more comprehensive collaboration.

Ecobio carried out the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for ABO Energy’s Iso-Petäjämäki wind power project. The EIA conducted by Ecobio was completed in 2023. Ecobio was responsible for managing the entire EIA process. In addition, Ecobio conducted bird population surveys for the project and handled presentations at public hearings.

In January 2022, Loiste Group optimized its operations by entering into an agreement with Ecobio for environmental and emission reporting. Ecobio will handle the reporting obligations related to environmental and emission permits in the future, enhancing Loiste Group’s reporting capabilities.

Ecobio supported Helsinki Mills in carrying out a double materiality assessment in line with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). The project began with a review of Helsinki Mills’ current state, background, and operating environment—including its value chain and key stakeholders. At the same time, the team took a closer look at the most relevant sustainability issues in the industry as a whole.

Helsinki Mills is a 90-year-old Finnish family business known for its high-quality Myllärin products. The company is Finland’s largest processor of organic grains and gluten-free oats. The joint project between Helsinki Mills and Ecobio was carried out in autumn 2024.

Ecobio modeled the environmental impacts of a paper machine over the entire life cycle of the machine. The modeled paper machine was Valmet’s Metsärauma Oy’s paper machine Rauma 4.

The life cycle modeling was carried out as a joint project, which was participated by the paper machine manufacturer Valmet Oyj, the wire manufacturer Tamfelt Oyj, the paper manufacturer UPM Kymmene Oyj, and the chemical manufacturer Kemira Oyj.

The attitude, solution-orientation, and competence of Ecobio’s people have been particularly great.

Gasum is a Nordic energy industry expert. The company provides cleaner energy and energy market services to businesses, as well as cleaner fuel solutions for road and maritime transportation.

Ecobio and Gasum have been working together for a long time. Gasum uses the Ecobio Manager service in the Nordic countries.

Technology Industries of Finland association published biodiversity guidelines for the industry. Ecobio was an expert partner in the preparation of the biodiversity roadmap for the industry. The project created a unique biodiversity-focused plan.

Long cooperation with Ecobio dates back to the Outokumpu era, the 1990s. With Outotec, Ecobio has carried out various projects for ten years, including assessing Outotec’s environmental system, technology environmental impacts, and corporate responsibility.
